Washington State: Where Nature Feels Like a Fairytale
Washington State has a way of making you feel like you’ve stepped into a storybook. Everywhere I turned, there was something new to take my breath away—forests so enchanting they felt alive, beaches where the waves seemed to whisper secrets, and mountains that towered so high they made me feel wonderfully small.
Wandering Through Fairytale Forests
The first time I walked into one of Washington’s moss-draped forests, I felt like I had stepped into a different world. The trees were massive, their trunks covered in layers of green, and the ground was so soft with ferns and moss that it almost felt sacred. The air itself seemed different—damp, fresh, and filled with a stillness that makes you slow down and just be.
Rugged, Wild Beaches
The coastline here is nothing like the sun-soaked beaches most people imagine. Washington’s beaches are wild and raw—strewn with driftwood, lined with sea stacks that rise dramatically from the water, and backed by endless evergreens. Standing on the black sand and watching the Pacific crash against the rocks, I felt the kind of peace you only get from places that are untouched and untamed.
Chasing Waterfalls
I didn’t set out to see waterfalls, but in Washington they seem to find you. One moment you’re winding through the forest, and suddenly you hear the rush of water nearby. Some waterfalls tumble powerfully into deep pools, while others cascade gracefully down mossy cliffs. Each one felt like its own little treasure, hidden until you were close enough to hear it.
Lake Diablo & the North Cascades
I’ll never forget the first time I saw Lake Diablo. Its color is unreal—this electric turquoise that almost looks painted. Surrounded by jagged peaks of the North Cascades, it’s the kind of view that makes you stop mid-sentence and just take it in. In that moment, I remember thinking: this is the wild beauty people mean when they talk about the Pacific Northwest.
Olympic National Park: A World Within a World
Olympic National Park stole a piece of my heart. Where else can you walk through a rainforest in the morning, stand on a beach with sea stacks in the afternoon, and then watch the sun set over mountain peaks—all in the same day? It felt like nature showing off everything it could possibly offer, all in one place.
Washington left me humbled and in awe.
It reminded me that there are still places where nature rules, where you can find magic just by slowing down and looking around. Every forest path, every crashing wave, every mountain view felt like a gift—and it’s a place I know I’ll carry with me forever.
